If you are fasting, you may want to hold off on viewing this post until after dark… because what you’re about to see is pure temptation.
A couple of nights ago Mike and I arrived home from NYC and found a package in our mailbox. It was a gift from my cousin Lauren and her amazing husband Rafaan with a note wishing us a Happy Ayyam-I-Ha and directions for creating what later became a deadly sweet tooth addiction. All we simply had to do was empty the contents of the mason jar into a bowl, add the chocolate chips, add a stick of melted butter, some vanilla, mix, pack into a glass Pyrex, top with the marshmallows and cook at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
For whatever reason I was in a peanut butter mood and modified the recipe a little by adding cinnamon to the mixture and layering a slab of peanut butter between the cookie mixture and the marshmallows. Glutton much? Yea, I’d say so. When these ooey gooey squares of goodness made their way into my mouth that night… I couldn’t stop. And the whole while I was thinking to myself, “I’m eating straight up butter… but. it. just. tastes. so. darn. good. I. can’t. STOP!!” I’m pretty sure the peanut butter added to my obsession.

Seriously people. This dessert is the bomb. They look a little crumbly because first I spilled part of the melted butter in the microwave. And then I spilled it again walking over to the bowl. But if you want to try something that is truly addictive, you should make these. They would be easy to make with kids as gifts to give away or to eat. Let them decorate the jars and help you measure the ingredients.
These need to be heading out the door as soon as they are baked and given to an unexpected fool. Otherwise, you will be tempted to eat the whole pan on your own. Just like me… Juuuust a warning.
If you want to make these yourself, here is the recipe that Lauren shared with me :)
S’more Bar Ingredients:
Layer in a large wide mouthed 1 quart mason jar (I didn’t have the bigger jar, which is why I used small ones and put the extra ingredients in baggies on the outside, but even if I had a bigger jar I probably would have bagged the marshmallows before putting them in just to make it easier to keep them separate for when you put them on top.)
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (one sleeve of crackers, crushed)
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows.
Or substitute with 8 Peeps and 1/2 cup miniature marshmallows for seasonal fun. Line the jar with Peeps facing out.
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips or mini Hershey Kisses or M&M’s
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tsp vanilla
