Peep S'mores

It’s that time of year again – Easter; the time when peeps line the shelves of every grocery store and pharmacy. It’s that time of the year when you think to yourself, “those are pretty darn cute but I’ve never liked peeps.” The ONLY way to eat peeps, in my opinion, is to blow them up in the microwave until they look like jigglypuff and squish them between two graham cracker squares. Don’t forget the chocolate! Seriously people, I could eat a whole box of peeps this way.

For some reason, every time I see peeps I think of my sister. I found a super colorful post on Pinterest (who doesn’t LOVE Pinterest?) which had peep chicks dunked in white chocolate with sprinkles. I find white chocolate hard to melt without it turning off white, plus I don’t like how it tastes. Milk chocolate is soooo much more scrumptious. Add a little bit of cream to thin it out a bit and you basically have a creamy ganache hugging those bunny peeps nice and tight. Peeps covered in chocolate and decorated with sprinkles might be a delicious treat all on their own, but it’s really all about the graham. So, for Ayyam-I-Ha I packaged the choco-swaddled-bunny-foo-foos in a cleaned out (and dishwashered) glass jar along with a pack of graham crackers and mailed it off to my sister.

“Mudge, if you’re reading this – you should be receiving these in the mail tomorrow. You’re welcome. Share the wealth. It is the Baha’i Holiday of giving.”

I made a few other single serving peep Ayyam-I-Ha celebratory snacks for a couple of youngsters and sent them in little mason jars. All I could fit were two graham cracker squares and a single peep. The perfect serving for little gooey fingers.

Happy Ayyam-I-Ha everyone!!
